🌱 Supplier Products:

🛍 Product Information:

Binomial Name:Prunus armeniaca L.

Chinese Name:杏脯

Other Names:Apricot

Product Description:Apricot preserves contain dietary fiber (pectin), potassium and beta-carotene (vitamin A) and vitamin C. Whether fresh or dehydrated, apricot preserves are considered an alkalizing food.

How to eat: Red apricots are unripe. Ripe preserved apricots are firm when lightly pressed, and aroma is also an important indicator. Like bananas, apricots are fruits that do not ripen until they are picked.

Variety:Apricot is a species belonging to the genus Prunus. apricot. The taxonomic status of P. brigantina is controversial. It is grouped with Prunus species based on chloroplast DNA sequences, but more closely related to Apricot species based on nuclear DNA sequences.

Apricot – Common apricot, widely cultivated for its edible fruit and kernels
Prunus brigantina – Brianne pine apricot, native to Europe and cultivated for its edible fruit and oil-producing kernels
Qingyang - native to Hebei
Prunus × dasycarpa – Purple apricot, grown in Central Asia and adjacent areas, whose fruits are edible
Hongping apricot – Hongping apricot, native to Shennongjia, is cultivated for its edible fruit
Hairy cherries – native to Chongqing
Plum apricot - grown in northern China, its fruits are edible
Prunus mandshurica – Manchurian apricot, native to Northeast Asia, cultivated for its kernels and edible fruits in some varieties
Plum - Japanese apricot, native to southern China and widely cultivated for its beautiful flowers and edible fruit
Siberian Plum – Siberian apricot, native to Siberia, Mongolia, northern China, and Korea, cultivated for its kernels
Zhenghe apricot – Zhenghe apricot, native to Fujian

Supply Season:The main harvest period is from May to August every year, and it is available in Hong Kong throughout the year.

Storage Method:If you find that the apricots are not yet fully ripe, you can put the apricots in a paper bag and fold the top down to collect the ethylene gas produced by the fruit, which will help ripen the fruit. Keep the bag at room temperature for 2 to 3 days and avoid direct sunlight or high temperatures. As for ripe apricots, they can generally be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. However, the taste and texture may be affected over time, so consume within 2 to 3 days.

#Should Be / Avoided:
Apricot meat has a sour taste, is hot in nature, and is slightly poisonous. Overeating will damage the muscles and bones, cause old diseases, and even cause loss of eyebrows and hair, and affect vision. Pregnant women and children who are in labor and delivery are also more likely to develop sores and boils if they overeat. At the same time, because fresh apricots are highly acidic, overeating will not only easily increase the acid in the stomach and cause gastric disease, but also easily corrode teeth and induce dental caries. For apricots, which are more harmful to people if eaten too much, it is appropriate to eat 3 to 5 apricots each time.

*Edible Compatibility:

Cooking Skills:Homemade apricot jam, dried apricots, soaked in wine, served as a dish

Notes:⒈Preserved fruit contains high sugar content. People with diabetes and other people who should not consume too much sugar are best to choose sweeteners instead of preserved fruit products;
