Musang King

Raub is one of the places in Pahang that produces a large amount of Elvis King and has a better quality.

Most of the durians in Raub now come from the production of Sungai Lan New Village, Sungai Kit Liu New Village and Dulai New Village in Raub.

The Maosheng Queen Mother tree was originally grown on a small island in the Kelantan River. The mother tree was transplanted in the 1970s and was planted in large numbers in Raub and Bentong in Pahang. With the changes of the times, many people put Lao Bukit and Bentong are listed as the origins of Cat King. In addition to being the hometown of gold, Raub is also known as the hometown of Cat King. Therefore, every durian season contributes a lot to the development of local tourism.

What is Musang King A & A Grade?

Musang King is also divided into A fruit, B fruit and C fruit, and the first step to identify Musang King is to look at the appearance.

Fruit A is plump and oval in shape. The key point is that the pulp is very plump. Usually, when fruit A is opened, there may be two rows of pulp inside, and up to 30 to 40 packs of pulp can be found. This is also the reason why the price of fruit A is relatively high. A Grade will be divided to AA and AB Grade further.

As for the B fruit, its shape is rather strange and unattractive, with an average weight of less than 1 kg. The B fruit will have less pulp inside, so the price will be slightly different from that of the A fruit. B fruit generally only has 2 to 4 packets of pulp.

The C fruit is smaller, with only a few packs of pulp, so the price will be lower than that of the B fruit.

Why are durians so expensive in Malaysia?

Malaysian durians, depending on the variety, are generally 3 to 5 times more expensive than Thai durians. If the Musang King in Malaysia loses, it can be as high as 8 to 10 times. Is it because of the breed, or something else?

Musang King (Durian code: D197) (Malaysian: DURIAN MUSANG KING)

The Musang King variety from Malaysia with a sweet aftertaste.

"MUSANG" means "civet civet" in Malay, why is durian named after civet? In fact, because the civet has a particularly sensitive sense of smell and can quickly smell the best durian, the best durian is named "Musang King", which means "the best durian".
Thick golden flesh, thick enough seeds and small enough seeds, soft and tender meat and dense taste, known as the Hermes of the durian world, it is conceivable that the taste and aroma are also Hermes-level ~ Musang King's butt will look like a pentagram. Cracks, don't worry about buying fakes~

Malaysian durians do not use the "ripening technology" of Thai durians, because Malaysia focuses on the original ripening of natural trees, which makes the taste stronger and more fragrant, and the taste is more layered and creamy. Since durians are ripe, they should be eaten within 3 or 4 days after the fruit is dropped (it can be stored for a longer time at low temperature), otherwise it will be overripe and go bad. In fact, it should be said that the "ripening technology" cannot be applied to Malaysian durians for the time being, because once when the supply was in short supply, they were harvested after seven ripening and ripening. The taste and creamy originally expected by the market were not acceptable to the market.

Malaysian durians have to be delivered to foreign customers freshly within 3 or 4 days. They are transported by manual logistics and planes, and the transportation cost causes the price to be much higher. It is precisely because Malaysian durians can only ripen on natural trees, the weather is affected for a longer period of time, and there are more uncertainties, and the risk of farmers losing their income is relatively high. In addition, it needs to be delivered to foreign customers within 3 or 4 days, and the manual logistics and aircraft transportation will lead to a much higher price.

Nutritional value: Durian is a kapok plant. Sweet and hot in nature. It has the effect of warming tonic, warming menstruation and promoting qi. Durian has a high sugar content, which can provide calories to the human body and replenish physical strength, but it should not be consumed in excess to avoid weight gain.

Cooking method:"Musang King" Durian has golden flavour and is ground into durian paste, suitable for making different desserts such as "Musang King" Durian Pancake, Melaleuca cake.

Durian in dishes

Thai Massaman Durian Curry (Massamum)

Thais love to add fruit to their dishes, and durian is a popular ingredient for adding umami to traditional dishes such as Massaman curry. The almond and butter flavours of durian add depth to coconut milk and curries, creating a symphony of flavours on the palate.

Durian Chips

Thinly sliced durian chips are nutritious and addictive. After opening a pack, it is recommended to share it with relatives and friends, so as not to break the belly.

Durian Coffee

What kind of taste will coffee combine with durian? If regular coffee makes you feel a little drab, try durian coffee to make your day even better.

Durian Crepes

The way Italians are terrified. But don't worry, the cheese and durian pair surprisingly well, and it's the ultimate heart-warming treat for durian fans.

durian som tum salad

Isn't Som tum just green papaya salad? This has traditionally been true, but now the latest star is the soft and refreshing raw durian. Friends who love som tum, might as well try the durian version.

Pickled Durian

Pickled durian (durian guan) is popular in eastern and southern Thailand and tastes like a durian-flavored toothpaste. Put the ripe golden pillow durians in a large pot and cook over the fire, stirring constantly, until golden brown.

Syrup Durian

Thai desserts are generally sweet, and chuam is popular because durians are slow cooked in syrup.

Special matters: People with liver fever eat durian, which is inherently hot and dry, and the temper will easily become irritable, and the quality of sleep will also deteriorate, leading to headaches, constipation, acne, heatstroke and other health problems.
