Features/Flavours
The skin is thin, smooth, and dark red. The pulp is very soft and easy to eat. When you take a bite, the sweet juice and aroma fill your mouth, making it very juicy.
how to eat
For the thin-skinned Beni Madonna, we recommend cutting it first with a knife into two pieces crosswise and then into four pieces lengthwise. It will be easier to peel if you create a small slit between the peel at the tip and the fruit.
Including Wenzhou mandarins, ponkans, Guangdong mandarins, female banana mandarins, etc., which are hybrids of tangerines and oranges. Since oranges are hybrids of tangerines and pomelo, tangerines contain pomelo genes. Tangerine is different from the modern cultivated tangerine (tangerine or tangerine, a hybrid of orange).
Orange skin and orange flesh are thinner than an orange, the skin is easy to peel, and the meat fiber is obviously thicker than an orange.
Tangerine and tangerine are similar and are often confused in modern Chinese, but strictly speaking tangerine is larger than tangerine and smaller than orange; the skin is thicker than tangerine and easier to peel than orange. Mandarin oranges and tangerines are collectively called wide-skinned tangerines.
In Taiwan, the supply period of ponkans is from October to January and February of the following year. October to December is the production period of "green peel ponkan", and the main production areas are concentrated in Tainan and Chiayi. The supply period of "storage oranges" is from January to April. They are harvested in January and stored until April. The main production areas are Taichung and Miaoli. The Jianan area has abundant sunshine, and the peel of the ponkans is still green in early October, but it has become slightly sweeter. At this time, the "green peel ponkans" are harvested and supplied. Green-skinned ponkans are difficult to store and can only be supplied until December. In the central region, the sunshine is not as abundant as in the south, so the growth period of ponkans is longer. When mature, the peel is orange-yellow, moderately sweet and sour, and it is resistant to storage. If the storage technology is good, it can be supplied until April.
Citrus is one of the 30 anti-cancer fruits and vegetables recognized by the American Cancer Society. According to food nutrition records in Taiwan, it contains plant compounds that are stored in the skin and flesh. The peel contains flavonoids and volatile oils (lemon oil). (genus terpenes), the pulp is rich in B-carotene, tangerine, carotenoids, citric acid, polyphenols, Limonoid that constitutes the flavor, amino acids, inorganic zinc, cellulose, fruit Gum, organic acid, vitamin P, folic acid, etc. It is high in vitamin C and vitamin A. It is a naturally delicious and nutritious fruit.
