林昌記成立於2012年,曾經在深水埗桂林街創下三日賣十萬粒魚蛋的記錄,曾引起城中熱話。林昌記的誕生源於老闆林生對食物味道和素質的追求,有一年林生從外地返港有感「為什麼現在的食物沒以前的好吃?」不如自己試試看調校一些食材的比例和配搭以增加其鮮味希望能尋回童年時對美味食物的回憶。結果不讓人失望,他成功了!林昌記的魚蛋、香辣醬、蝦子醬、咖喱醬都是林生親自調配的。
所以林昌記在製造食物過程中優先考慮的不是食材成本,乃是食材的用料是否上乘,基於此原則才會有八成魚肉比例的魚蛋面世。又以蝦子醬為例,林生找了很多地方和國家,試過很多不同的品種最後才決定選用某產地的櫻花蝦製作蝦子醬。甚至蝦子炒麵的醬油都是林生自己調配出來的獨特口味。這就是林生對製作美味食物的堅持。
如同林生的座右銘所言:首先把食物造好,食物自然會回報你!林昌記雖然開業只有短短數年的時間,被食客譽為「良心魚蛋」、「香港.良心」等美譽。看來顧客感受到了林生用心造食物的態度。
林生的心願:在食物方面不斷做研發和創新,把美味帶給大家。
